ABOUT THIS EVENT

We hope that you will accept our invitation to this festive Cantata Series program which explores the new and different and celebrates the more familiar. Beginning with Bach’s very unique BWV 18, which is scored for two recorders and four violas, we then move to a cantata by the lesser known Baroque composer, Nicholas Bruhns. Bruhns was a child prodigy and pupil of Buxtehude, but his tragically short life has left us with few, albeit excellent, pieces. Vivaldi’s Concerto for two trumpets begin the celebration of the second half of the performance, which concludes gloriously with Purcell’s Ode, Come, Ye Sons of Art, Away. Join the Voice majors, Red Dot Baroque led by Alan Choo, and members of the Orchestral Institute for this, our 11th anniversary of the series.
